A COMPUTER-AIDED INVENTORY CONTROL-SYSTEM IN CHINA

This paper briefly introduces a computer-aided inventory control syste m in a boiler works in China. It shows some general inventory behavior and management practices in China nowadays. The system consists of fi ve different functional subsystems: the warehouse bookkeeping manageme nt subsystem, the vouchers and invoices releasing subsystem, the contr act management subsystem, the inventory planning and balancing subsyst em, and the statistical analysis and verification subsystem. The syste m not only replaces most of the manual work but also adds some new fun ctions. After the system was employed by the works, managers could kno w the inventory status and take timely appropriate measures, so that t he stock level was controlled within permitted limits and the inventor y turnover improved significantly.
