H. Bergmann et K. Hertwig, AN EXAMPLE OF FIXED-BED REACTOR DESIGN FO R AN ELECTROCHEMICAL PROCESS OF VANADIUM OXIDATION IN WASHING SOLUTIONS, Chemische Technik, 46(3), 1994, pp. 160-165
Washing solutions for carbon dioxide separation in the nitrogen indust
ry may contain pentavalent vanadium, which, unfortunately, is reduced
to the tetravalent form. An electrochemical reoxidation could be an al
ternative to the conventional oxidation by air. Based upon experimenta
l studies and calculations, with the help of a mathematical fixed bed
reactor model, a process quantification was carried out for a given ox
idation capacity. Parameter studies allowed process conditions and cel
l design to be optimized. The results show, that the electroenergy cos
ts are relatively low and are not a limiting factor in the processing.
