A. Visconti et al., ACUMINATOPYRONE - REVISED STRUCTURE AND PRODUCTION BY FUSARIUM-CHLAMYDOSPORUM AND FUSARIUM-TRICINCTUM, Journal of natural products, 57(6), 1994, pp. 695-699
Acuminaropyrone, a recently described metabolite of Fusarium acuminatu
m, was shown to be produced by several strains of Fusarium chlamydospo
rum and F. tricinctum isolated from various substrates in different co
untries. The structure of acuminatopyrone has been revised on the basi
s of NOEDIF and HETCOR nmr experiments, and shown to be ethoxy-7,8-dim
ethyl-2H-pyrano[4,3-b]pyridin-2-one. This structure is biosyntheticall
y consistent with that of chlamydosporol and related compounds that ar
e produced by the same fungal species.
