COMBREGLUTININ, A HYDROLYZABLE TANNIN FROM COMBRETUM-GLUTINOSUM

Combreglutinin [4], a hydrolyzable tannin, was isolated from the leave s of Combretum glutinosum, and its macrocyclic structure was establish ed on the basis of H-1- and C-13-nmr and 2D nmr spectroscopic data and by chemical methods. The three known tannins 2,3-(S)-hexahydroxydiphe noyl-D-glucose [1], punicalin [2], and punicalagin [3] were also isola ted.
