The processing parameters for polishing borolanthanide glasses with fo
rmulations based on zirconium dioxide and basic zirconium sulfate are
optimized. The factorial dependence of the process on the temperature
of the medium, the polishing pressure and rotation rate, and the compo
sition of the polishing suspension is studied. It is established that
the optimum concentration of basic zirconium sulfate in a zirconium-co
ntaining suspension is determined by the total concentration of boron,
barium, and lanthanum oxides in the glass being processed.
