Vapour-liquid equilibria of n-propanol with n-methylpyrrolidone (NMP),
dimethylformamide (DMFA), 1,4-dioxane (DIOX), dimethylsulphoxide (DMS
O), nitromethane (NM), acetone (ACET), diethylether (DEE) and ethylene
glycol (EG) were measured by an entrainment method, resp. by an equil
ibrium still. A solution model was developed to describe the vapour/li
quid equilibria of the mixtures consisting of propanol and aprotic com
ponents in terms of self-association of pure components and solvation
between unlike molecules. The influence of the properties of the pure
components on the excess Gibbs energy was discussed.
