Electrical conductivity of 5-(substituted arylazo)thiobarbituric acid
complexes were measured in the temperature range 298 - 573 K. The resu
lts were correlated to the geometrical structure. The electrical condu
ctivity data illustrate faint semiconducting behaviour for these syste
ms. In general, electron donor substituents gave higher DELTAE values
compared to the electron attracting groups. Empirical equations have b
een constructed to correlate the variation of the activation energy, D
ELTAE (eV), with log sigma(o).
