A mechanism of formation and a model of the structure of primary globu
les of silica gels prepared in acidic and basic media are proposed. Th
e mechanism of formation of the macrostructure of silica gel synthesiz
ed at various pH values and the relation between its micro and macro p
arameters are discussed. An explanation for the dependence of the text
ure characteristics and differences in the silica gel structure on the
pH value of the medium is suggested.
