The total number of acid centers and their distribution according to t
he strength in pentasil type zeolites both in the H-form and in the fo
rm modified with phosphorus, magnesium, water vapor, tetraethoxysilane
, and coke are determined by the method of temperature-programmed deso
rption of ammonia. Using the method of regional rates, a correlation b
etween the pentasil activity in styrene methylation and acidity is der
ived. The acid-strength regions governing each pathway of the process
of styrene methylation are found.
