The complexity of nuclear power plants makes it necessary to monitor a
large number of process parameters. A computerized information system
provides a centralized facility to efficiently monitor the entire pro
cess. Computerized display of information requires development of eleg
ant. user friendly. man-machine interaction (MMI) so that it presents
a well organized and easily manageable picture of the process. The maj
or task of such MMI software package is to obtain the plant data and p
resent it to the user on demand in various easy to understand formats
on the CRT and the hardcopy devices. It should also provide context se
nsitive help to the user at all relevant times and more incorrect user
commands without paralyzing itself. The salient features of an MMI pa
ckage developed to meet these requirements are described highlighting
the different schemes for operator interface, various display and hard
copy formats, and data storage.
