Abstract
We present a method for calculating the magnetic-field effect on valen ce-band electron states in semiconductor structures from the microscop ic pseudopotentials of the host materials. The effect of spin-orbit co upling is included. We have used the method to calculate the energy sp ectra and wave functions of Landau levels in bulk GaAs and an AlAs/GaA s/AlAs quantum well.
