IRIDOIDS FROM VERBASCUM-NIGRUM

In addition to the known -[(E)-p-coumaroyl]-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl}au cubin (2) three novel acyl iridoid diglycosides 3-5 have been isolated from the aerial parts of Verbascum nigrum. On the basis of their spec tral data the structures of these iridoids have been elucidated as O-{ O-[(E)-p-coumaroyl]-a-L-rhamnopyranosyl)aucubin (3, nigroside III), O- {3-O-[(E)-isoferuloyl]-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-) aucubin (4, nigroside IV) and -[(E)-isoferuloyl]-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl}aucubin (5, nigros ide V).
