Ultrasonic parameters for designing a prototype ultrasonic probe were
investigated including optimum frequency, probe diameter, near-field l
ength, and beam divergence angle. Optimum parameter values were propos
ed based on the morphological structure of beef carcasses. Piezoelectr
ic material of the prototype probe element was selected considering im
pedance matching. An interactive program for designing ultrasonic prot
otype probe was developed.
