H. Tosun, BOUNDARY-CONDITION TRANSFER METHOD FOR THE SOLUTION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC SCATTERING BY ROTATIONALLY SYMMETRICAL PENETRABLE BODIES, Radio science, 29(4), 1994, pp. 723-738
A novel differential formulation of electromagnetic scattering by rota
tionally symmetric penetrable bodies is presented. The formulation is
essentially based on the representation of vector fields in terms of s
pherical vector wave functions. In regions where we have physical inho
mogenity the representation is in terms of position-dependent expansio
n coefficients. The differential equation system for these variable co
efficients is deduced from the relevant wave equation. This system is
numerically solved as an initial value problem, and the unknown consta
nt expansion coefficients are found with a matrix inversion. The metho
d was tested and validated on a number of problems, whose exact soluti
ons are available, and the results obtained for scatterers for which n
o exact solutions are present were succesfully compared with the ones
obtained by other methods.
