Abstract
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy and scrapie in sheep and goats are on ly sporadic, but notifiable diseases in Germany. This paper reviews al l necessary measures that should be initiated in a given suspect case, in order to ensure an orderly diagnostic investigation.
