Abstract
In these times of fiscal austerity, library personnel are frequently a sked to consider consolidating reference service points. In Fall 1992, budgetary constraints necessitated the merger of the Government Publi cations and Maps Divisions at San Diego State University Library. This paper provides a description and assessment of this merger.
