G. Sapp et G. Suttle, A METHOD FOR MEASURING COLLECTION EXPANSION RATES AND SHELF SPACE CAPACITIES, The Journal of academic librarianship, 20(3), 1994, pp. 156-161
Many library buildings are nearing their space capacities. In order to
make the most efficient use of existing stacks space, librarians must
carefully measure the rates of collection expansion and the amounts o
f available shelf space. This article describes an effort to quantify
annual collection expansion and shelf space capacities using a microco
mputer-based spreadsheet program.
