Abstract
We report on a scanning force microscopy study of self-assembled octad ecanol monolayers physisorbed at the liquid/graphite interface. The la yers were found to be stable for reproducible imaging with applied for ces up to about 1 x 10(-9) N. We were able to observe both the long-ra nge lamella structure of monolayers including domain boundaries, as we ll as the detailed arrangement of molecules within each lamella.
