Abstract
Irradiation with gamma-rays promotes the formation of conjugated doubl e bonds in a poly(vinyl alcohol) film at an elevated temperature. The unsaturation structures resulted by gamma-irradiation were assigned to be mainly polyenones, -(CH=CH)(n)-CO-, whereas thermal activation pro duces mainly polyenes, -(CH=CH)(n)-.
