A NOVEL TYPE OF AMIDATO COORDINATION - THE METALLOCYCLE RH-RH-NH-C(ME)=O

Treatment of [Rh2CP(2)(mu-CH2)(2)(mu-O2CO)] (Cp*=eta(5)-C(5)Me(5)) wi th acetonitrile in aqueous solution followed by addition of KPF6 affor ds the Rh-Rh complex [Rh(2)Cp(2)(mu-CH2)(2)(mu-NHC(=O)Me)] [PF6], whi ch has been characterized by elemental analysis, FAB-MS, H-1 and C-13{ H-1} NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. p(2)(mu-CH2)(2)(mu- eta(1):eta(1)-NHC(=O)Me)][PF6] is the first example of an amidato comp lex where the ligand [NHC(=O)Me](-) links the metal-metal site forming a novel type of metallocycle.
