In further work on the extractives of Salix sachalinensis wood, three
phenylpropane derivatives (I, II, and III) were isolated from the ethy
l acetate solubles of the ethanol extract of the wood, and these were
analyzed by UV, IR, NMR and MS spectroscopies. Two-dimensional NMR spe
ctroscopy was applied for the explanation of the chemical structure. A
ll three compounds had the skeleton of arylglycerol-aryl ether, and Co
mpound I was comprised of dihydrobenzofuran as the partial structure.
Also, these compounds were concerned with neolignan and were acylated
by different acyl groups. Compounds II and III were novel neolignan es
ters.
