Ahj. Gromping et K. Cammann, DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATED, QUASI-CONTINUOUS METHOD FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF NITROGEN-OXIDES, ALDEHYDES, AND KETONES IN AIR, Instrumentation science & technology, 22(1), 1994, pp. 25-38
The development of an automated method for the simultaneous determinat
ion of nitrogen oxides, aldehydes and ketones is described. All compon
ents are sampled together by means of impingers, which are filled with
an acidified solution of DNPH in acetonitrile. The corresponding deri
vatives are separated and quantified by reversed-phase HPLC with UV de
tection at 300 nm or at 345 nm. Using this reproducible method calibra
tion curves with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 could be obtained.
The method was validated by means of several field tests, measuring c
andle smoke and cigarette smoke.
