SEEPAGE BENEATH UNSYMMETRIC COFFERDAMS

Finite element analyses have been performed on the problem of two-dime nsional groundwater flow beneath cofferdam walls of unequal length. Th e results indicate that the problem may be idealized as two independen t flow systems separated by a vertical line. An optimum location for t his line can be found which enables good approximate solutions for flo w rates and exit gradients to be obtained.
