Abstract
The oxidation of polypyrrole films was studied by in situ FTIR spectro scopy and cyclic voltammetry in aqueous NaNO3 and Na2SO4 solutions. Th e charge injection in the polymer produces a pronounced change of the position of some vibrational modes; an inflection in the slope of the frequency-potential curves at 0 mV vs SCE is observed for some of thes e analysed bands. These results are in quite good agreement with theor etical calculations presented in the literature. It is also observed t hat the spectroscopic band shift of the 1223 cm-1 band correlates well with the voltammetric experiments.
