T. Venturi et al., MULTIWAVELENGTH RADIO OBSERVATIONS OF THE ENCOUNTER BETWEEN JUPITER AND COMET SHOEMAKER-LEVY-9, Astronomy and astrophysics, 316(1), 1996, pp. 243-247
We present the results of radio continuum observations of the Jupiter
- Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 encounter, carried out at 3.6 cm, 6 cm, 74 cm
with the two 32 m antennas located in Medicina and Note (Italy) and w
ith the Northern Cross Interferometer (Bologna, Italy). Additional obs
ervations at 11.7 m are also presented. In agreement with the results
obtained by other groups, our data show that Jupiter synchrotron flux
increased considerably as a consequence of the impacts, the flux varia
tions increasing with decreasing radio wavelength.
