Vl. Bychkov et al., AN EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE PROPERTIES OF SURFACE ELECTRON-BEAM NITROGEN PLASMA, High temperature, 32(3), 1994, pp. 303-312
Multizone optical spectroscopy (in the wavelength range of 0.35 - 0.9
mcm) is used to perform an experimental investigation of the propertie
s of an electron-beam plasma at pressures of 2 - 10 torr (space distri
bution of temperature and degree of excitation of particles) both in t
he presence and in the absence of a target. The beam parameters are th
e following: J(B) = 0.1 - 10 A/cm2, E(B) = 30 - 60 keV. A theoretical
model is constructed, which makes possible an approximate calculation
of the plasma parameters under the experimental conditions. The measur
ements performed and their analysis lead to a conclusion about the pot
ential of multizone optical spectroscopy of a nonequilibrium electron-
beam plasma.
