Ve. Nakoryakov et al., AN INCREASE IN THE AMPLITUDE OF PRESSURE WAVES IN A VAPOR LIQUID-MIXTURE WITH A BUBBLE STRUCTURE, High temperature, 32(3), 1994, pp. 386-392
The peculiarities of propagation of strong pressure waves in a vapor-l
iquid medium with bubble structure are investigated. It is found exper
imentally that an incident shock wave in such a medium can be transfor
med into a strong solitary pressure pulse significantly greater in amp
litude than the initial wave. Reasons for generation of such a pulse a
re analyzed. Results of the experiments in vapor-liquid and vapor-freo
n media are presented, as well as a high-speed photogram of both vapor
bubble behavior and changes in the void fraction for shock waves of v
arious intensities.
