Abstract
Sulfur compounds characteristics of Allium genus plants have influence s on the surrounding biocenosis and particularly on the insects. These secondary compounds have different effects whether the insects are ad apted or not to Allium. Favourable effects are observed on phytophages which are able to feed on these plants and on parasitoids which stric tly develop on these insects. Contrarily, unfavourable effects are obs erved on phytophages which are unable to consume Allium and on entomop hages (parasitoids and/or predators) which usually attack these phytop hages. Works analysing the Allium-insects relations are reviewed.
