Aa. Mihas et al., EFFECTS OF FRUCTOSE-1,6-DIPHOSPHATE ON THE ACTIVITY OF RAT-LIVER NITRIC-OXIDE SYNTHASE IN-VITRO, Pharmacology, 54(1), 1997, pp. 43-48
Fructose-1,6-diphosphate (FDP) was found to cause significant stimulat
ion of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in rat liver homogenates in vitro.
This effect was more pronounced for the inducible isoform than its con
stitutive counterpart. Furthermore, FDP restored rat liver inducible N
OS levels following their depletion by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Th
is finding may have further practical implications in hepatoprotection
from various noxious chemical and biological agents.
