Abstract
A cantilever beam, partially covered by damping and constraining layer s, with concentrated mass at the free end is studied. Euler beam theor y is employed to derive the equations of motion of the system and the resonant frequency and loss factor of the system are analysed. The res onant frequency and system loss factor for different geometrical and p hysical parameters are determined. Variation of these two parameters a re found to strongly depend on the geometrical and physical properties of the constraining layers and the mass ratio.
