This paper has two objectives. First, necessary and sufficient conditi
ons are given to characterize the uniform exponential stability of a s
equence of c0-semigroups T(n)(t) on Hilbert space H(n). Secondly, appr
oximation in control of a one-dimensional thermoelastic system, subjec
t to Dirichlet-Dirichlet as well as Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditi
ons, is considered. The uniform exponential stability and strong conve
rgence of corresponding semigroups associated with approximate scheme
are proved. Numerical experimental results are also presented.
