This paper looks at the provisions of the German regulations concernin
g continuous monitoring of dust emissions. The following are the main
conclusions: Exact knowledge of the composition, temperature, moisture
, particulate size distribution, and flow conditions of the waste gas
to be measured is required prior to analysis. The place of measurement
can only be determined after thorough specific investigation. In the
case of gases with a high water vapour content, eventual employment of
a continuous dust measuring device largely depends on the possible fo
rmation of condensate and drip. The effectiveness of a dust measuring
device depends on regular maintenance in accordance with manufacturer'
s instructions.
