ANOMURAN AND BRACHYURAN CRABS OF COSTA-RICA - ANNOTATED LIST OF SPECIES

Fifty seven species of anomuran and brachyuran crabs new for Costa Ric a and deposited in the Museo de Zoologia of the Universidad de Costa R ica were identified. Twenty five species of these occur on the Pacific side and 32 on the Atlantic side of the country. Four of the 24 speci es from the Pacific coast could be considered significant finds: Pagur istes praedator, P. holmesi, Epialtus sulcirostris and Pilumnus townse ndi have until now only been reported from Mexico and Acanthocarpus de lsolari has been reported only from Peru. An annotated list of the 257 species reported for costa fica is also included.
