Abstract
Acute pancreatitis is an uncommon but serious complication of cancer c hemotherapy. A 16-year-old girl with metastatic osteosarcoma experienc ed recurrent bouts of symptomatic pancreatitis 24 hours after treatmen t with ifosfamide administered as a single agent. To the authors' know ledge, this is the first report of an association between ifosfamide a nd pancreatitis. Because serum amylase levels are not monitored routin ely during treatment with most chemotherapeutic agents, subclinical ca ses of pancreatitis with ifosfamide and other agents may go undetected .
