Abstract
In this communication a new design method for the discrete-time LQ reg ulator based on the solution of the inverse optimal regulator is prese nted. The main feature of the method is that it requires no Riccati so lution in addition to having a number of tuning parameters which help to shape a desirable response of the closed-loop system.
