We invoke energy sudden (ES) dynamics in the projection- or m-scaling
of crossed-beam rotational energy transfer cross-sections. We identify
the dynamical quantities which must be input to the scaling analysis
and note their symmetry properties. Also we show that a partial m-summ
ing of cross-sections is sufficient to effect significant simplificati
ons of the scaling. Application of the scaling analysis is made to int
egral cross-sections in the scattering of He + CO. It is found that th
e ES scaling is very effective in describing the m-dependent transitio
ns.
