Abstract
A wide range of substituted 3-aryl-4,6-dimethoxyindoles (6) has been s ynthesized from the related alpha-anilinoacetophenones (5), in which t he nitrogen atom is protected by a trifluoroacetyl or acetyl group. Th is method has led to the synthesis of a 3,7'-biindolyl (12).
