Abstract
Five more species from the genus Helicopsis (Helicopsis) have now been confirmed from Morocco, greatly extending the range of the genus whic h is shown to be disjunct with species in central - eastern Europe and North-west Africa. These species are re-described using both shell an d anatomical characters. The cause of this apparently disjunct distrib ution pattern is discussed with relation to the areas of taxonomic ins ufficiency and the impact of Pleistocene climatic change.
