HAS THE SPREAD-OF-DAMAGE ORDER-PARAMETER A CONJUGATE FIELD

Through Monte Carlo simulations of a standard cellular automation (Dom any-Kinzel), we introduce a new type of external field h defined as th e frequency at which the random numbers used in the updating of the tw o replicas involved in the damage spread method differ. We show, for t he first time, that h is the field conjugate to the Hamming distance P SI (chaotic order parameter).
