A haemangiosarcoma in a horse resulted in ataxia affecting all four le
gs, a low head carriage and a reluctance to flex the neck. Ancillary d
iagnostic procedures included the analysis of cerebrospinal fluid, sta
nding lateral cervical radiographs and a myelogram. Post mortem a tumo
ur was found which involved the body of the second cervical vertebra a
nd the associated hypaxial muscles, with secondary intravertebral extr
adural infiltration and focal compressive myelopathy. A histological e
xamination showed that the tumour mas a haemangiosarcoma.
