This article is a corollary to numerous theoretical discussions on the
advantages and disadvantages of the development and realization of an
environment management system, according to the EC-ECO-audit regulati
on. It deals with the practical experiences gained from carrying throu
gh such a project at a pulp and paper industrial site. From the initia
tion of the project to the introduction of the system, the most import
ant aspects of the project organization are the involvement of all wor
kers and staff, and combined with this the widest communication of the
theme of this development. These factors have a decisive influence on
the time taken over the project, ist cost and success. For this reaso
n this article deals primarily with experiences concerning involvement
of co-workers and their influence on the project organization. Finall
y, suggestions are made concerning planning of sections of the project
, when to start, and certain actual actions within the project.
