A new formalism is developed for describing the stochastic neutron tra
nsport by the forward approach. This is used to derive a forward stoch
astic transport equation for this process. The first moment of this eq
uation is the usual transport equation for the singlet density while h
igher moments yield equations for the doublet and higher multiplet den
sities. The present method avoids many of the difficulties inherent in
the forward equation approach to the problem discussed by many author
s as well as the rather complicated functional technique. The equation
can however be converted into a simple functional form which is then
used to establish a connection with the backward equation and a compac
t derivation of the moments equations.
