C. Karabelyos et al., EFFECT OF TREATMENT WITH CONTRACEPTIVE STEROIDS ON THE SEXUAL-BEHAVIOR OF RATS PRETREATED WITH BENZPYRENE OR ALLYLESTRENOL IN FETAL OR NEONATAL AGE, Hormone and Metabolic Research, 26(8), 1994, pp. 371-373
Treatments with contraceptive steroids significantly reduced the recep
tivity of adult female rats. This effect was not observed in ovariecto
mized females treated with high doses of estrogen and gestagen hormone
s prior to the investigation. The receptivity was also significantly r
educed in rats treated with steroids (allylestrenol or benzpyrene) in
their fetal or neonatal age, as it was demonstrated in previous experi
ments. The contraceptive treatment of the above described, pretreated
adults resulted in improved function of receptivity, but it had no dif
ference compared to the group which was only treated with anticoncipie
nt. This means that neonatal treatment with allylestrenol or benzpyren
e does not influence the effects of contraceptive steroids on the sexu
al behaviour (receptivity). The two effects are not additive.
