Pj. Marquis et al., ANALYTICAL METHODS FOR A NATIONAL STUDY OF CHEMICAL RESIDUES IN FISH .1. POLYCHLORINATED DIBENZO-P-DIOXINS DIBENZOFURANS, Chemosphere, 29(3), 1994, pp. 495-508
Analytical Methods were developed to determine the concentration of PC
DD/PCDF in fish tissue for a national survey conducted by EPA. The met
hod was designed to achieve a relatively low cost per sample while mai
ntaining adequate quality control. It utilizes a Soxhlet extraction, a
cid-celite, florisil and carbon-silica gel chromatography, and HRGC/HR
MS analysis. The minimum level of detection for 2,3,7,8-TCDD is approx
imately 1 pg/g. Rigorous quality assurance/quality control criteria ha
ve been developed to assure the validity of the data.
