Ep. Esteban, ON THE DECOLLIMATION OF ASTROPHYSICAL PARTICLE BEAMS BY A REISSNER-NORDSTROM BLACK-HOLE, Astrophysical letters & communications, 29(4), 1994, pp. 217-225
In the first part of this brief report, we discuss the relativistic de
collimation induced in a non-interacting neutral beam by a Reissner-No
rdstrom black hole. It is shown that the beam's bending is less compar
ed to the respective values induced by a Schwarzschild black hole. The
opposite happens with the collimation factors. As also expected, nume
rical results show that the bending diminishes as the black hole's cha
rge increases. To estimate the general relativistic corrections, a bea
m's decollimation treatment in weak gravitational fields is also carri
ed out. The second part is concerned with considering the beam as a we
akly coupled plasma. We find that the difference of decollimation betw
een electron or positron beams and neutral ones is significant even th
ough the ratio between the black hole's charge to mass was assumed to
be negligible.
