Abstract
The compounds (NO){HB(3,5-Me2pz)3}X{EC6H3-(3-R)-{4-(eta5-C5H4)Fe (eta5 -C5H5)}] (M = Mo, E = NH, R = H, Me, X = Cl, I; M = Mo, E = O, R = H, X = Cl, I; M = W, E = NH, R = H, Me, X = Cl, M = W, E = 0, R = H, X = Cl) and (3,5-Me2pz)3}{OC6H4-4-{(eta5-C5H4)Fe(eta5-C5H5)}2] (M = Mo, W) have been synthesised and their second order non-linear optical prope rties assessed using the Kurtz powder test; 3,5-Me2pz)3}I{NHC6H4-4-{(e ta5-C5H4)Fe(eta5-C5H5)}] gave a signal of similar intensity to that of a urea standard but the others gave weak or undetectable signals.
