I. Gainar et G. Anitescu, DETERMINATION OF THE COMPRESSIBILITY FACTOR FOR SOME HYDROCARBONS BY THE BURNETT METHOD, Revue Roumaine de Chimie, 39(5), 1994, pp. 473-477
Unlike other experimental procedures, the Burnett method allows the de
termination of the compressibility factor of a real gas from pressure
measurements only. The present note deals with compressibility factors
obtained with experimental data for some hydrocarbons (ethane, ethene
, propane and propene) for pressures up to 50 atm at 25-degrees-C. The
experimental values are compared with the calculated ones, using an e
quation containing virial coefficients and the Redlich Kowng equation.
The obtained values for compressibility factors were used to calculat
e the fugacity coefficients.
