In the present investigation, the mechanical properties of an elevated
temperature aluminium alloy exhibiting two different size distributio
ns was evaluated after extrusion processing at 400-degrees-C. The allo
y powder with a target composition of Al-8 wt.% Fe-4 wt.%Ce was produc
ed under different atomizing conditions. The consolidation process usi
ng extrusion was found to be more beneficial for finer powder size dis
tribution in terms of elevated temperature mechanical properties becau
se of the retention of a more desirable metastable phase.
