Abstract
We have studied both the phase and the intensity of the magnetization- induced second-harmonic generation from a Rh/Co/Cu multilayer on an Si O2 substrate. In selected polarization combinations we observe, respec tively, a 180 degrees and no phase shift of the SH signal upon sign re versal of the magnetization. This is a direct manifestation of the tim e-reversal symmetry breaking by magnetization.
