Abstract
The paper is concerned with the analysis of linear induction motors. I t compares the use of an early simple space transient analysis with fi nite element modelling using the Apsi method for 3D problems and the M inkowski transformation for moving conductor regions. Special attentio n was paid to the effect of the geometry of the trailing edge of the m achine.
